A. In Quebec, you will need between $175,000 to $225,000 of unencumbered cash. In the rest of Canada, you will need between $200,000 to $250,000.

Q. What is the cost of a Ben & Florentine restaurant?

A. In Quebec, the purchase of a turnkey Ben & Florentine restaurant ranges from $450,000 to $550,000. In the rest of Canada, the cost ranges from $525,000 to $625,000. Certain factors such as local labour & material cost, condition of the space to be leased, landlord’s contribution towards leasehold improvements & the like, determine the final cost.

Q. Does Ben & Florentine Restaurants Inc. provide financial assistance?

A. Ben & Florentine Restaurants Inc. does not provide financing for franchisees, however we will help you prepare a detailed application for financing which will assist you in obtaining the required level of financing.

Q. What is the initial Franchise Fee?

A. The initial Franchise Fee is $30,000 & the services provided prior to opening include:

  • Site selection based on proven selection criteria
  • Professional supervision of all interior & exterior construction
  • Design & specifications according to the Ben & Florentine model
  • Professional assistance with all pre-opening activities, including national purchasing, coordination with suppliers, municipalities & trades
  • Use of concept trademarks, logos & proprietary products & services

Q. How much is the Royalty fee?

A. The Royalty fee is 5% of gross sales paid weekly.

Q. What do I get for this fee?

A. The Royalty fee allows you to benefit from such ongoing services as:

  • Continued support & operational guidance
  • Assistance in monitoring hygiene & food safety
  • Monthly B&F newsletter
  • Quality control
  • Use of the Ben & Florentine logos & trademarks
  • Centralized suppliers & distribution
  • Use of confidential operational manual
  • Continuous research & development

Q. What is the advertising fee?

A. The advertising fee is 2% of gross sales paid weekly.

Q. As an investor, do I also have to operate the restaurant?

A. For all independent owner/operator locations, Ben & Florentine Restaurants Inc.’s policy is that one of the partners with at least 25% equity participation complete our training program & be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the restaurant.

Q. Do I receive any training?

A. Ben & Florentine Restaurants Inc. ensures our franchisees have the opportunity to learn the basic skills necessary to successfully operate their restaurant.

  • The owner/operator follows six (6) weeks of training. (Theoretical & Practical)
  • Grand opening training & assistance for two (2) weeks
